New Kinderflute Website!

I’ve just created a new website devoted entirely to Kinderflute! You can check it our at www.kinderflute.mymusicstaff.com

Heart Beats :)

Happy Valentine’s Day! Today at Kinderflute we used colourful foam hearts to practise our music theory! Make these at home with your kids simply by taping 5 lines of masking tape onto the floor for the music staff and writing the note names onto the hearts. We also placed the note values, time signature, bar lines and treble clef underneath. Next lesson we’ll repeat this activity and play the rhythm on our Pneumo Pros!

Spring Spectacular 2019

So excited to be performing at Ocean Rain’s 2019 Spring Spectacular this Saturday, January 26th! I’m playing a piece that’s traditionally performed on bamboo flute called “Songs of Fishing Boats at Dusk” with two talented instrumentalists. I even get to wear a costume! If you’d like to come along and see some fantastic performances, the show starts at 7pm and is at Oak Bay High School. Proceeds go towards Big Brothers and Sisters in Victoria.

Kinderflute is at Ocean Rain!

So thrilled to be offering Victoria’s first Kinderflute class at Ocean Rain! We have a lovely, bright new room with tables and chairs just the right size for children. There is convenient parking and children can have both their group class and individual lesson at this location. The class is almost full so send me a quick message if you are interested!

New Kinderflute Victoria Facebook Page!

I’ve just started up a new Kinderflute Victoria Facebook page! Please do feel free to have a look and “like” it! www.facebook.com/kinderflutevictoria

We are moving to Canada!

I am both excited and sorry to announce that my family and I will be relocating to Canada this December to be closer to my family in Victoria, BC. We have had such a wonderful time in Brighton and have made memories to last a lifetime! I am grateful beyond words for all the lovely people who have made this chapter of my life so special and I want to thank my flute students for being so especially amazing. Who knows? Maybe we’ll be back some day! I look forward to our last Christmas Recital this December and will be sure to bring a big box of tissues!

New Year’s Flute Contest Winner!

Congratulations to Felix for winning the first annual New Year’s Flute Contest!! The contest was for my flute students under 11 years of age and, to win, students had to submit a clip of themselves playing a tricky flute head joint exercise. Felix wins 3 tickets to see a kid’s film at the local cinema!

Our 2017 Christmas Recital

Our 2017 Christmas Flute Recital was a great success! Thank you so much to every one who performed, listened and brought delicious treats to enjoy afterwards! I am also happy to report that we raised more than £80 for Cardiac Risk in the Young. Happy New Year!!

Thank you, Kinderflute Kids!

Many thanks to our lively Kinderflute Kids who successfully completed Brighton’s first Kinderflute course this May half-term. I had such a fun time teaching them creative games and fun learning activities! By the end of just one week they confidently performed Mary had a Little Lamb and Bumble Bee. Many thanks to their mums who helped them complete their daily “Smiley Face Charts” at home! Kinderflute is all about encouraging parents to work and learn with their children on their musical journey and our mums this week were fantastic at doing just that! A BIG thank you also to my amazing ABRSM Grade 4 student, Rona, who volunteered each day and was a huge help! Keep an eye out for my new Introduction to Kinderflute course coming this Autumn  🙂

Learning music gives your brain a full-body workout!

This fantastic video, How playing an instrument benefits your brain, shows just how much music strengthens and develops your brain! This is one of the reasons I am so excited to share Kinderflute with children here in Brighton– it really encourages children to learn with all the areas of their brain through reading music, listening, playing and developing fine motor skills.
